How Ceci Paolo used PR to sell-out of Chocolate Olivers
On the anniversary of John Lennon’s death 43 years ago today, we look at our most successful client campaign this year, which led to a sell-out of ‘Chocolate Olivers’ (the Beatle’s favourite biscuits) through the store’s website: Ceci Paolo Food and Lifestyle Emporium
Timed with the release of ‘Now and Then’ by The Beatles on 2nd November, Kenland rode the wave of 2023 Beatles hype, issuing a story about how John Lennon famously asked to be paid in Chocolate Olivers for a TV performance in the 1960’s. Picked up by the London and Liverpool food and lifestyle media, the treats quickly became a number one best-seller at Ceci Paolo, with store owner, Patricia Harrison receiving orders daily from all parts of the country.
Now sold out until January, the store which sells a huge number of Christmas hamper favourites, is telling customers not to worry as they have a delicious new substitute for Chocolate Olivers, which are kinder to teeth than the crisp, slow-baked biscuits. Patricia says: “The Seggiano chocolate Grissini is a bit softer on the inside so actually better for us oldies with dodgy teeth.” The sophisticated chocolate fingers from Piemonte in Northern Italy are available from https://www.cecipaolo.com/p/31393/Seggiano-Chocolate-Grissini
But be quick! We’ve just discovered that the classic Grissini appetiser recipe was invented three centuries ago – that really does take the biscuit as a story angle!
